LEARNING GOAL & PURPOSE

This is an inspiring story of change from students of Captain Jose Azueta Elementary School, Nuevo Leon, Mexico where they were bothered by no space to play for them. Together as a team, they converted an unused field into an orchard and play area. A true testimony of collaboration and problem solving which will leave you with an inspiration.

Lesson Plan

  • After the introduction of this project (in other subjects) students could be the managers of some changes at the school! Let’s make some green spaces! TIP: If you don't have space for a garden or trees in the school, they may be able to join some tree planting projects, or maybe collaborate with the town hall with the public spaces.
  • Working in groups: Each should have different responsibilities: safety, materials, tools, human resources, accountability…
  • Environmental friendly: The more we take care of our planet, the better, can we reuse materials for our project. TIP: Recycling emblem should always be in the mind of the students, Reuse-Reduce-Recycle!
  • Communication: How are we going to show others our project? Do we need investors? Do we need help from the parents? TIP: Students can organize a party at the school and invite parents and other school students to share.
